    BONNIE DEVLIN MEMORIAL SEMINAR AND AWARD CEREMONY RISING DRUG USE AND THE ASSOCIATED HARMS IN AFGHANISTAN Tuesday 23rd November 2010 at the Jurys Inn Hotel, Albert Dock, Liverpool, The speaker, and winner of the award was Olivier Maguet from Médecins du Monde in Paris, who will give an updated report on his work in Afghanistan. and Louis Saha of Everton FC.
    The Bonnie Devlin Memorial Scholarship was developed as a tribute to Bonnie Devlin, a woman who was not only instrumental in the International AIDS conference in Vancouver in 1996 and the International Conference on Drug Related Harm in 2006, but also in the development of community programmes, services and research for persons affected by drug use. The $5,000 scholarship is awarded to someone who espouses the values that Bonnie worked so hard for, and after which the 2006 conference was named: Prevention, Empowering, Equitable, Respect.
    Specifically, this award will help fund, facilitate and promote the collaboration of researchers, treatment providers, persons currently affected, or at risk of being affected by substance use, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis and other various health issues, and other interested parties to devise realistic, responsive and effective harm reduction strategies and/or to make the information available to the public and all interested parties.
